The Los Angeles Real Estate Grand Expo is proudly presented by (from right) Lloyd Segal, Linda Pliagas and Sam Sadat

Lloyd Segal President, Los Angeles County Real Estate Investor’s Association

After practicing law for over 30 years (specializing in real estate litigation), Lloyd Segal assumed leadership of the Los Angeles County Real Estate Investor’s Association in 2016 from the late Phyllis Rockower.  Lloyd is also an author, real estate investor, mentor, and public speaker.  Now located in Los Angeles, California, Lloyd was born and raised in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania (Go Steelers!). He attended Boston University, Boston University Law School, Southwestern University School of Law (where he was President of the Student Bar Association), and studied international law (and skiing) at the University of Innsbruck, Austria.

Lloyd is the author of several best-selling real estate reference books, including “Everything You Wanted to Know About Chapter 11 Bankruptcy…but Were Afraid to Ask”, “Stop Foreclosure Now in California” (Nolo Press), and “Stop Foreclosure Now” (American Management Association). In 2015, “Stop Foreclosure Now” was selected “Best Personal Finance Book of the Year” by USA Today Book News, based upon helping homeowners avoid losing their homes in foreclosure.  Lloyd also wrote “Foreclosure Investing” (Regency Publishing) to educate real estate investors on how to buy foreclosure properties. Lloyd’s newest book, “Flipping Houses” describes how to get started finding, financing, fixing, and flipping houses. All of Lloyd’s books are available at Barnes & Noble bookstores, and online at BarnesAndNoble.com or Amazon.com. With his extensive experience and writings on real estate and related topics, Lloyd is considered “America’s Leading House-Flipping Expert.”

Lloyd is an informative and exciting public speaker with over 25 years of professional real estate experience. He has been interviewed and/or quoted on National Public Radio, Wall Street Journal, CNN, Fox Business News, Los Angeles Times, Parade Magazine, Smart Money, Publisher’s Weekly, and numerous local radio, TV, and newspapers around the country. He is also a frequent guest speaker at universities, boards of realtors, Coldwell Banker national conventions, real estate investor clubs, and numerous other real estate and service organizations throughout the United States.

With respect to investing, Lloyd has fixed and flipped over 40 properties in the past twenty years. Lloyd specializes in large multi-million- dollar estates. He looks for houses over 4,000 sq ft (with at least half-acre lots) that are seriously distressed. Lloyd enjoys fixing and flipping these behemoths, which then become “case studies” for his books and seminars.

Lloyd also has a Private Mentoring Program for investors looking for one-on-one intensive mentoring. The goal of his unique program is for new investors to buy a property within 60-90 days, while at the same time learning the practical aspects and local customs of real estate investing. But because of Lloyd’s other activities, he only takes 2-3 students at a time.

Lloyd is a volunteer member of Mercy Ships, which provides humanitarian assistance after natural disasters around the world.  In 2005, Lloyd traveled to New Orleans and volunteered in the recovery after Hurricane Katrina destroyed the city and killed over 1,800 residents. In 2010, Lloyd went to Port-a-Prince after an earthquake devasted Haiti, aiding in the relief and recovery efforts that destroyed homes and killed over 160,000 people! Lloyd would have done it again in 2014 after a typhoon and tsunami destroyed Phuket, Thailand, but was stopped at the border because he didn’t have sufficient vaccinations. And of course, Lloyd will volunteer again when the next natural disaster inevitably strikes somewhere in our world.

Lloyd is an avid horseman.  His passion is polo. He is a member of the United States Polo Association, and the former President (nine years!) of the Will Rogers Polo Club in Pacific Palisades, California. Lloyd is honored to join with Sam and Linda to present this annual GRAND EXPO to the Southern California real estate community.

She was a recipient of the Bobit Magazine Scholarship for her accomplishment in publishing her first national magazine while still a student at CSULB. She kept a close ear to his teachings, obtained her real estate license, and began to focus more on the investing side of the real estate industry. Soon, Linda began to help her family, friends and colleagues also invest in rental properties, particularly out of state. Linda has been a licensed real estate agent for over 17 years. She has been a California landlord for over 25 years and has also invested in four other states as well.

Linda is very excited to join with Lloyd and Sam to present this annual GRAND EXPO to the Southern California real estate community.

Sam Sadat President, Sam’s Real Estate Club

Since 1987, Sam Sadat has been involved in more than 2,000 real estate transactions as a principal, partner, lender, or broker. During this time, he’s helped thousands of aspiring investors learn the real estate business the right way and apply their knowledge confidently to achieve financial independence Sam came to America as a teenager over 40 years ago. He studied physics and engineering at the University of Texas in Austin before moving to Los Angeles in the late 70’s. After working in the engineering field for a year he realized his heart wasn’t in it. In his words, “I belong out there connecting and networking with people rather than working on objects all day long.” Besides, his enterprising spirit wasn’t going to allow him to get trapped in a 9-5 job as an employee. Sam got his Real Estate License, trained with the best mentor in business and started his own company, Aim Financial, in Encino. In a few short years, his company was a top producing brokerage firm in Los Angeles.

1994 wasn’t a kind year to Sam, as the Northridge Earthquake shook his world and turned it upside down. Having lost his home in Santa Monica and other investments, he moved to Denver, CO with his family in 1995 and embarked upon a soul searching sabbatical for almost a year. In his words, “This was perhaps the best year of my life. Every day I meditated for hours while hiking the entire Rockies with a good friend.” Sam’s journey of self-discovery changed his life forever. In 1996, with a rejuvenated spirit, he got back to work and established a new company, Global Financial Network. Once again, GFN reached the top within a few years and was funding over $100 million annually. Currently, Global Financial Network, LLC is a private lending firm specializing in financing of “fix and flip” or “buy and hold” investment properties in Southern California. “Although I loved Colorado, my heart was back home in Southern California.” Sam returned home to his beloved Santa Monica in 2002 and started his Real Estate club in 2003. Sam always dreamed of having his own educational forum where he could teach, inspire and motivate others to achieve their full potential in life and business. Sam says anyone can succeed in real estate — but not without a good mentor which led to the creation of his VIP Mentorship Programs that are affordable, practical, powerful, and local. Over the years, Sam’s true passion has become to use his depth of knowledge to educate beginners, as well as the veterans, on the latest trends and proven strategies. He teaches that only through the process of continuing education in slow dosages can an investor assimilate the necessary knowledge, apply it with confidence, and successfully navigate through the ever changing real estate market. Having hosted his own radio show, The Free and Clear Hour, on KHOW in Denver, CO, he continues to lecture at various seminars and workshops, appear on TV and radio programs, and mentor his VIP students so they may attain success through investing in real estate. Sam also writes educational and inspirational articles for well-known real estate publications. His bestselling book, Free and Clear – The Inside Secrets of Home Mortgage Financing, has helped thousands of people save millions of dollars on their mortgages, avoid predatory lending, and take control over their financial future. In addition, he taught financing and short sales classes at Cal Poly Pomona, Learning Annex, and American Premier University. All this experience has made Sam Sadat one of the true renaissance men in the real estate industry. He believes that life is not just a race to see who dies with the most toys (or apartment buildings), but instead, about the journey along the road to success, all while nurturing our inner child by growing mentally and spiritually. You may reach Sam by email: [email protected] or phone (800) 998-9930 Sam is very excited to join with Lloyd and Linda to present this annual GRAND EXPO to the Southern California real estate community.
